Meet Officer Joe Brazil, the kind-hearted police officer from Woonsocket, Rhode Island, who never hesitates to lend a helping hand. In one heartwarming incident, he went out of his way to rescue a helpless dog, which Peggy Edwards shared on Facebook on May 2, 2016. The story touched many hearts and quickly went viral. The anxious little Yorkshire terrier was scared off by a passing vehicle and ran straight into a tunnel. It was Officer Joe Brazil who stepped up and rescued the dog, becoming an important character in Peggy’s story.
Last April 30th, a small dog got frightened by a passing car and ran off, until it hit a tunnel beside a local creek. The dog was stuck around 20-25 feet inside the tunnel, clinging to the edge. When Peggy heard about what happened, she knew she had to help the poor thing. However, she was hesitant because she didn’t want to scare the dog even more, but she came up with a plan. She contacted the Woonsocket Police Department for assistance and Officer Joe Brazil immediately responded.
Peggy shared the story of what happened, and the brave Officer was enthusiastic about helping out. He didn’t hesitate for a moment and jumped right in to rescue the scared little pup who was soaking wet. It’s amazing how lucky that dog is, and we can’t thank the Officer enough for his heroic actions. Peggy expressed her gratitude by saying that they were thrilled with the Officer’s successful rescue of the little girl. Additionally, he took off his shoes and socks before entering the tunnel to save the tiny dog. What a kind and compassionate human being!
According to WJAR NBC10, the Officer shared that as he approached Cece, he noticed that she was clinging to the side of the tunnel and shaking with fear. He mentioned that the dog was extremely scared, and he took extra care not to frighten her any further. However, the Officer’s actions were truly remarkable. He allowed Cece to smell his fingers as he gradually moved closer to her until he was near enough to lift her up to safety.
According to Brazil, the dog’s demeanor seemed to suggest that she was expressing gratitude for being rescued. The photo captured the heartwarming moment of the affectionate canine showing appreciation towards the officer who came to her aid. Interestingly, it turned out that Cece, as the dog was named, was not a stray dog. She belonged to a loving family, and her owner, Michelle Perez, was relieved and delighted that her pet had been found. Perez recounted how she had received the puppy as a gift from her mother-in-law, only for it to escape the following day.
In an interview, Perez revealed that she couldn’t sleep because her beloved dog Cece was missing. Cece, who was only five months old, had been rescued from a scary tunnel and reunited with Perez with the help of Peggy Edwards and Officer Joe Brazil. It’s heartwarming to know that Cece is now safe and sound with her human again. Check out the video below for more on this touching tale. Don’t forget to share it with your loved ones!
