An Aging Canine with Bone Cancer Neglected in a Drunkard’s Yard: Deprived of Nourishment and Hydration.

GWARP was informed on September 22 about a senior dog that was severely unwell, and its owner had chained it without providing sustenance. GWARP is no stranger to animal rescue, but this particular situation was a first for them.

The dog is suspected to suffer from bone cancer, but hasn’t been treated ever since it was chained up for a prolonged period of time and has only been fed with waste and garbage. This has led to the development of osteosarcoma- a form of bone cancer. Unfortunately, this is not a fabricated tale, as the person who disclosed this had witnessed the dog being subjected to merciless beatings by its intoxicated owner. The veterinarian stated that this kind of cancer is usually caused by severe damage to the bone, which develops into a tumor due to infection. The dog had been concealed and restrained in the owner’s yard for several years and could barely move more than two feet due to a short metal chain.

The GWARP rescue team encountered an issue when they tried to rescue a boy. The owner of the property opposed their efforts and argued that they couldn’t take away “his property.” As a result, the team sought assistance from the local police. During their conversation with the authorities, the dog seemed saddened by their actions. However, after presenting the necessary paperwork, the owner had a change of heart and agreed to release the dog to them, with the condition that they don’t report him.

We made the decision to get our beloved dog medical attention right away, as he required urgent evaluations and blood tests. Sadly, our furry friend needs an amputation, and samples of tissue will be sent for further analysis. There’s still a lot more to do. After examining X-rays, it turns out that he has osteosarcoma which is a grave type of bone cancer. On the bright side, no metastases were found in his lungs, giving him a small chance of survival. Nevertheless, the tumor is growing rapidly, causing the skin around it to tear apart, and expanding each passing day.

Jordan enjoyed a long and luxurious bath that washed away any negative energy from his past experiences with his previous owner. However, the news about his relocation was not entirely positive. Unfortunately, Jordan is not ready to move to Turkey just yet. He needs to improve a bit before he can embark on his journey. It’s sad to say that he cannot stay in Azerbaijan for much longer, and his departure is scheduled for a few days from now.

When Jordan went to Istanbul, he had to undergo a short period of sedation so that the doctors could take X-rays of his entire body before performing surgery. Fortunately, the removal of his limb affected by tumors went smoothly, and the operation was a success without any complications.

On the third day, Jordan underwent an amputation of his leg. Despite this sudden and drastic change in his life, he proved to be a fast learner and was able to adapt quickly. He even regained his appetite in no time and grew quite fond of the food we provided. We continue to hope for Jordan’s swift recovery and good health for years to come. Know that you are cherished by us all, Jordan.
