A delightful little kitty sought comfort in the arms of the compassionate folks who arrived to pick him up from the shelter, having spent a whole week there. Little did they know that their presence would turn out to be a lifesaving act.
Owen, the adorable kitten, found himself in a difficult situation when he was brought to an animal shelter. With an upper respiratory infection and being much smaller than his peers, he was in desperate need of foster care. Unfortunately, despite the shelter’s plea for help, nobody came forward to offer him a home.
Fortunately, Erin, a dedicated foster parent who works with Wrenn Rescues, came across Owen’s story and felt an instant connection. His little face tugged at her heartstrings, and she knew she couldn’t ignore his cries for help. Determined to make a difference, Erin collaborated with Mel Lamprey and her rescue organization, Pumpkin Patch Pet Rescue, to swiftly rescue Owen from the shelter.

Owen, the resilient kitten, was fortunately saved and brought to safety after spending a whole week in the shelter. During his journey back, Owen couldn’t contain his excitement and was bursting with things to share. Upon reaching his destination, he immediately immersed himself in playful activities with his beloved toys. Nestling comfortably onto his human’s lap, he relished the warmth and coziness it offered, drifting off into a peaceful sleep while emitting contented purrs. All Owen truly desired was a companion to snuggle with and shower affection upon, as if he was determined to make every moment count after a period of being apart.
He immediately transformed into an affectionate and charming companion, indulging in delicious meals and joyful playtime. However, this blissful state didn’t last long, as Erin discovered one morning that Owen appeared sluggish, displaying a lack of appetite and a disinterest in engaging in playful activities. It seemed all he wanted to do was curl up on your neck and seek solace in sleep.
@catasticalmeows shared the story of a little cat who began losing weight at an alarming rate. Worried about his well-being, Erin, the cat’s caretaker, took immediate action. Due to his small size and undernourishment, Erin made the decision to syringe-feed the feline and provide him with necessary fluids.
Unfortunately, things took a turn for the worse when they visited the veterinarian. Although the cat had been vaccinated against panleukopenia at the shelter before Erin adopted him, they were shocked to hear that he had contracted the disease. It became clear to Erin that vaccination does not guarantee absolute immunity or protection from the illness.

Owen, despite his petite size, possessed an immense determination. Upon their arrival home, they brought along ample support to assist Owen in overcoming his current setback.
Following a few days of receiving fluids, medication, and syringe feeds, Owen began to exhibit signs of improvement. Not only did his appetite gradually return, but his boisterous voice reclaimed its former strength as well.
Owen’s spirits began to lift, and his hunger resurfaced. Just like in the past, he would enthusiastically express his excitement during mealtime and regain his grooming routine with a newfound vigor. Not only was his coat becoming healthier and more lustrous, but he was also steadily progressing in his overall well-being.
“As soon as Owen started devouring food independently and incessantly demanding nourishment every few hours, it was clear to us that he had made a significant breakthrough,” Erin shared with Love Meow.
@catasticalmeows shared some exciting news about Owen’s progress! Owen, a furry friend, has been making some great improvements in his weight. Initially weighing in at 566g, he unfortunately experienced a sudden drop and reached 485g within a day. However, things have turned around for him as he has managed to bounce back and now weighs a healthy 740g.
Not only has his weight improved, but Owen’s energy levels have also received a significant boost. He is full of life and his playful side has reemerged. It’s as if he has springs under his feet as he joyfully bounces around. Owen absolutely adores his human companions, and he is eagerly looking for a constant buddy to engage in playful activities with.
Owen’s enthusiasm surged, prompting him to resume his playful and mischievous ways. When he pulls off a prank and gets caught, he remains undeterred and persists. Currently, his ultimate delight lies in breaking free from his playpen. It has become somewhat of a thrilling game for him. Once he successfully escapes and spots someone, he will dart around the room akin to the merry muffin man, inviting others to chase him if they can.

After a long day of playful mischief, Owen finds solace and relaxation in the arms of his foster mom, letting out gentle purrs as he drifts into a peaceful slumber. There’s simply no better place for him to catch some Zs than the embrace of his loving human companions.

Owen sports an adorable white patch on his back, as noticed by @catasticalmeows. As soon as he is ready to mingle with other kittens, he will be warmly welcomed by two foster companions. With each passing day, Owen continues to grow stronger and bigger, showing remarkable progress. It is certain that he will bring immense happiness and be a source of joy for his fortunate forever home.
